BERBER was conceived by the owner John Pryor in 2007 on a trip to Morocco and was inspired by the artisans and their colourful work. Ten years on Berber remains predominantly Moroccan selling handwoven rugs from all over the country, silver mirrors made to order, multistripe fabrics, tadelakt lamp bases of every size and colour, leather goods and many other Moroccan treats.
All our products are personally sourced from a select number of artisans in Morocco. Their crafts and incredible creativity are a constant thrill and inspiration to us. Each item and product is individually handmade by an artisan, not by machine and inevitably there will be the odd imperfection!
John and his business partner Cookie, have expanded the range to also feature contemporary design. This range is still ‘artisan’ inspired from around the world to compliment the original core Moroccan theme. Candlesticks to furniture, with many recycled and up-cycled. It also includes a number of items made here in North Norfolk!
Morocco meets North Norfolk with our lamps for example, they are made by a family outside Marrakech, shipped, wired in Holt and finally topped with an exclusive fabulous handmade lampshade made locally - a wonderful visual experience…
The stock is continually changing but our handwoven Moroccan rugs play a major role and you can view our range here. We have tried to give a true flavour as to the items we have on offer but we also source products for customers, designers and architects. If you are planning any sort of change, treat or redesign to your home, holiday house, conservatory or offices do have a look at our website and see if we can help. We are passionate about what we do and pride ourselves on the originality of our stock.
The website is not yet complete but more items are being added daily. Let us know if we can be of help and/or what you think of our new website, if we should feature more information, news etc...
