Moroccan Handira Rugs are traditionally woven by the women of the Berber tribe in the High Atlas mountains. Like the Beni Ourain this is made using natural undyed wool. These rugs used to be used as mattresses or cloaks, hence the shaggy fringe backing. Wonderful to use as a rug with its natural underlay! Unusually, this has fringe at both ends. The rug can be used either way up so you can change the look of a room in seconds and is certainly an amazing talking point!
